One of the most common questions we get at PSCU is whether our members can use any credit union ATM. While we would like to say “yes,” we’re afraid that we can only give you access to over 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs at 4,000 nationwide branches.
We are confident that includes the vast majority of credit union ATMs in the country — it definitely covers the majority of Michigan — but you may find yourself at a credit union that’s not a part of our network. Just look for the Co-Op Network, and you’ll be able to use your debit card there just like it was a PSCU ATM.
Can I Use Other ATMs?
Now that you know you have access to over 30,000 ATMs without surcharge fees just by being a PSCU member, what happens if you can’t find one of those ATMs when you need cash? Finding a PSCU location around Detroit or Romulus isn’t too hard, but what if you’re in another state or out of the country? Of course you can use other ATMs.
Restricting your ATM usage is a bank tactic, not a credit union one. You may be subject to fees for using that ATM, but if convenience is the most pressing issue, it won’t come between you and your cash.
How Can I Avoid ATM Fees?
If you’re already a credit union member, just use one of the many credit union ATMs in our expanded network.
If you still do your banking through a bank, consider joining a credit union. It’s pretty easy, provides many of the same benefits of a bank, and is funded by its members to minimize the fees and hassle of working with a Detroit bank.
